Quantum hypothesis testing and sufficient subalgebras
We introduce a new notion of a sufficient subalgebra for quantum states: a subalgebra is 2sufficient for a pair of states {ρ0, ρ1} if it contains all Bayes optimal tests of ρ0 against ρ1. In classical statistics, this corresponds to the usual definition of sufficiency. We show this correspondence in the quantum setting for some special cases. Furthermore, we show that sufficiency is equivalent ...
متن کاملOn Composite Quantum Hypothesis Testing
σ ⊗n is given by a regularized quantum relative entropy distance formula. We prove that in general such a regularization is needed but also discuss various settings where our formula as well as extensions thereof become single-letter. This includes a novel operational interpretation of the relative entropy of coherence in terms of hypothesis testing. For our proof, we start from the composite S...
متن کاملGaussian hypothesis testing and quantum illumination
Quantum hypothesis testing is one of the most basic tasks in quantum information theory and has fundamental links with quantum communication and estimation theory. In this paper, we establish a formula that characterizes the decay rate of the minimal type-II error probability in a quantum hypothesis test of two Gaussian states given a fixed constraint on the type-I error probability. This formu...
متن کاملHYPOTHESIS TESTING FOR AN EXCHANGEABLE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
Consider an exchangeable normal vector with parameters ????2, and ?. On the basis of a vector observation some tests about these parameters are found and their properties are discussed. A simulation study for these tests and a few nonparametric tests are presented. Some advantages and disadvantages of these tests are discussed and a few applications are given.
متن کاملLINEAR HYPOTHESIS TESTING USING DLR METRIC
Several practical problems of hypotheses testing can be under a general linear model analysis of variance which would be examined. In analysis of variance, when the response random variable Y , has linear relationship with several random variables X, another important model as analysis of covariance can be used. In this paper, assuming that Y is fuzzy and using DLR metric, a method for testing ...
